Abel?

DH usually has ZERO input on names, in fact I told him I wont discuss names with him until we know gender b/c I know he's not interested right now. Tonight a friend of ours was talking about someone named Abel and DH said he liked it. Im not sure. What are your thoughts on Abel Markum Harris for a boy? (Markum is a family name and I really want to use it as MN)

Not a fan. The only thing that comes to mind is Cain and Abel. A friend of mine named her son this and I was so confused on why she picked such a strange name.

My first thought was Cain & Abel too. I guess I'll just go ahead and veto it.

It makes me think of the Abel Assessment of Sexual Interest, named after the man who created it. It's an assessment I give to sex offenders to help assess their risk. So would I use it? No. But then again, my life is a freak show and nobody else would have that association.

I think of Cain and Abel, too -- not a good association IMO given the most prominent part of that story is a murder.

How about Abram? Doesn't go well with Markum b/c it kind of rhymes, but it has a similar sound.

Sorry, really dislike it. All I think of is "he's able... to do what?" It's a weird name to me.

ETA: Also, I know when H finally agrees on a name or suggests one it's like "whoa...!" But he'll come around and get more into it as the pregnancy progresses.. so don't feel like you have to like this name because he finally suggested one. GL!!
