Had my A/S today everything looks good. Baby is healthy. Saw my doc right after for my monthly check up. She said No to the Vbac attempt because of an extension cut that was made during the c/s.I did have the transverse cut but because my old OB didn't go into detail in my OP report about what way the extension was made, either strait or vertical. So my new OB said because she didn't do my c/s the first time and my old OB was not very detailed on what way the extension was made she would feel safer with a RCS.Plus my old OB said in the OP report I was a failer to progress. (My DS was OP 'sunny side up) she didn't have that in my OP report either. I did make it to 10cm pushed for 4+hrs and baby stayed at 0 station ( I thought it was because he was OP) my new OB is thinking that it was because I have a small pelvis. My OP report didn't have that in there about my pelvis. So now I really feel cheated on a Vbac attempt. Has anyone else experienced this with there old OB and not being detailed on the OP report ??????
Update: I called my old OB'S office I had some questions I wanted answered. Q #1 was about the extension cut that was made and what way it went and why?. Answer .Old OB office said when my old OB was cutting into me she cut into the 5cm fibroid and had to move around it making the extension cut go up into the uterus, according to my old OB that's why I am NOT a good Vbac candidate. Any thoughts on this one????? The fibroid is no longer there with the u/s . Also my NEW OB said it didn't say in the OP report what way or how far it extended up. Old Ob office said it's right in the report.. Q #2 was about my pelvis being small. Answer. Old OB'S office said there was no report of my pelvis being to small and then asked what made my new OB say that?. Q #3 my baby being OP "sunny-side-up" Answer. Old Ob's office said it was in my report that my baby was OP . Q #4 fail to progress. Answer. Old OB'S office said there is no indication of a fail to progress . I was fully dilated and pushed for 4+ hrs baby stayed at 0 station " I am think because he was OP sunny-side-up"???? Any thoughts on any of this?? And what would you do if you where in my shoes??? Does this extension cut scare any of you??? Thank you for taking the time to read and answer....
Re: UPDATE ON ' No Vbac for me :-( thanks to my old OB
I don't have any thoughts on the incision (I don't know enough about that type of incision to have an opinion about vbac vs. rcs) but it doesn't surprise me at all that your new OB tried to say all that stuff wasn't in the report so she had a reason not to recommend vbac. If nothing else, I think this proves you need a new OB (whether you're a vbac candidate or not) because this new OB has proven herself to be unethical, imho.
Good for you for following up and researching, no matter what you decide to do. Best of luck with your decision.
I am getting my copy of the OP report on Monday. I don't know if I should approach my new OB with the extension cut and ask if it really does make a difference for attempting a Vbac??. I have to wait 4 more weeks for my next OB appointment. And my new OB wants to schedule the RCS. I will be 26 weeks at that point. I'm not sure when the schedule RCS.
You don't *have* to wait 4 weeks, you can consult with another OB now, if you wanted to. It's worth asking your current OB I suppose, but based purely on what you've said here it sounds like s/he is not going to be supportive based on a whole host of issues that s/he has identified. RCS are not usually scheduled before 37 weeks, and current recommendation is to wait until 39 weeks. Good luck with whatever you choose.
I agree with pp, time to atleast shop around for a new provider. If your current provider can't even read the OP report correctly, I'd be concerned anyway.
I was thinking maybe my new OB don't have all of my OP report? Cause when I went to sign the papers My old OB office was going to fax them to my new OB... IDK. I'm guessing. Does anyone know more about the uterus when contractions happen that's when rupture ??? Sorry I didn't know how to word it ... I have read some put they never really go into detail about it....
I'd get a 3rd opinion. Your OB does not sound truly supportive.
Get the OP, get a consult with a new OB - preferrably one recommended by your local ICAN or someone who has actually had a vbac with them.
Go see what they say. It is not too late to switch OBs.
And if in 4 weeks you are still with the same OB, don't stress about scheduling the c/s. It's just an appointment, it can be moved/changed/cancelled, it's not something to stress over.

You might also want to see if you can get the nurse's report. The OB who delivered my son was at the end of her shift (so bad for so many reasons) and didn't provide all of the information in the report. The nurse's report was more detailed and let us know that he wasn't in OP.
Thank you for telling me about the nurses report. I didn't even know they did their own reports. I will get that also as my OB only showed up in my room 3x's through out my laboring experience. Luckily my nurse was there for everything even the C/S.... Thanks again for the info....
