Diet Juice?

I noticed that my DCP was using Diet Juice the other day and this really urkes me. I understand the reasoning behind it--less sugar plus she waters it down but STILL. Aspartame is not even healthy for adults let alone children. I brought it up to her but she said its ok through the state. I appreciate her caring enough to give low sugar but come on, really?

Re: Diet Juice?

  • I'd definitely say something & REFUSE to allow my child to have juice. That's crazy

  • No way. If the concern is too much sugar, then just don't give juice at all or water it down more. My dad and SM sent DS "sugar free" candy for Easter (probably because we feed him healthy foods and they thought that meant healthy) and they went right in the trash. :P
  • Yea so many people dont know about aspartame. There is something about aspartame that freaks me out and I"m not usually paranoid about "hidden dangers" in foods. I would just request that on those days LO is served water or something else.

  • I would feel the same way!!! We get the Motts for Tots (already watered down a lot) and then water it down even more. But, never diet...
  • We very specifically avoid anything with artificial sweeteners, so I would be livid if I found out someone was giving those to my children. If you water down regular juice it still has less sugar without cancer causing junk in it. I would let her know that you don't want your kid having the diet juice.
