Help! What do these symptoms mean

This is really the first time my 19 m/o has been really sick. She was running a fever and not wanting to eat. Took her to doc and all she said was that her throat was red and I should just give her tylenol and motrin alternating. But I asked about a million other questions and I guess the doc thought I was being too worried? She said as long as she is drinking fluid she's not worried, well today she will barely even drink anything. I have offered her milk, pedialyte which she usually loves, water, juice, EVEN SODA! She wants nothing. She hasn't eaten all morning, now its 130 here and she's napping. She also refuses to open her mouth to take any medicine or even let us near her with the thermometer. I am getting scared.

Other symptoms.

Fever of 101. Dry cough. General unhappiness. Very clingy to me, won't really go to anyone else or even let go of me at times. Rosy face. Very bad breath (which I would get as a kid with strep, and I told the doc that). Anyone know what this could be, or at least how I can get her to drink something?? Thank you for your help.

  • I would take her in again.  If nothing else, she will get dehydrated if she won't drink anything.

  • hmmm, can you freeze the pedialyte pops or even go-gurts and see if she'll take those?  If it's more than a day of not getting anything in- I agree- take her in again.
