This is not a baby update

...thank goodness. We ended up going to L&D on Tuesday night because Jen didn't feel well. They checked everything out and the main problem seemed to be ketones in her urine, so she ate and drank a lot and felt better. Her cervix has shortened to 2cm, but didn't change when they had her push, so the shortness is considered normal. Both babies had good heartbeats and we even saw both of them breathing (well, practice breathing I guess). She also had the fetal fibronectin test and it came back negative, so we *should* have at least two more weeks. We saw the MFM on Wednesday morning and he checked her again just to be safe.

The not-so-good news is that she is feeling pretty miserable in general right now, with bad sleep and just uncomfortable from carrying 10 pounds of still-growing babies (and 45 pounds of other gain) on her 5'2" frame. The doctor told her yesterday to really limit her activity, so she is doing her best to just sit on the couch and give up her usual constant tidying/laundry/dishes habits.

We're still hoping to make it to 37 weeks - I feel like there is so much left to do. The house is finally pretty much together, and I have the nursery done, but we haven't found a pediatrician, I haven't done any freezer cooking or made progress on the books I was going to read, and it turns out that the adoption process is going to be a lot more involved than we thought and it would be nice to get more of that out of the way first.

That got a bit rambly, I just haven't been around much and wanted to share where we're at today :)

  • I don't really know your history since I've not been on here long, but it sounds like you have a TON going on at the moment!

I'm glad the baby news is so positive and I really hope that she gets some good rest in before they arrive!

Good luck with everything! How exciting!

  • What a relief that they're still inside for at least a little while longer.  I'm sorry that Jen is so miserable though!!  Good luck focusing on your to-do list!

  • yea for inside babies!

Is Jen still working? I hope she is feeling ok.

We didn't find a pedi until we were discharged. I picked from the list at the hospital. Turned out they didn't take my insurance, and I had to call around like a crazy person the next day Stick out tongue

  • She switched to part time in December, then part time at home, then part time consulting, and right now she's totally off but may pick up some contract work from her old company later. (We both quit our jobs to move out here, but hers keeps offering her work and she takes it when it comes along.)

  • Whew! So glad to hear it looks like the babies are going to stay put a while longer! I tell ya, late twin pregnancy is really something, especially for those of us on the shorter side. (I am 5'2" as well so I feel her pain!) Hope she can put her feet up and get some rest in the coming weeks. This stage is not for wimps. LOL!

  • Glad to hear they are still cooking- My DW went to 36w5d and was completely miserable from 30 weeks on, so I feel your pain having to witness the whole thing and feel kinda helpless.

Oh, and for the record- we didn't have a pedi, or any food frozen, or a whole bunch of things done when E went into labor- it was a good lesson that from then on, the kids are in charge and we just have to try and enjoy the ride :-)
