Hi all. I've lurked here for a few weeks but thought I'd introduce myself as I find those who have shared similar experiences can bring comfort in knowing you're not alone (while all of your friends are pregnant or giving birth).
At a regular appt with my OB at 26 weeks, they were unable to find a heartbeat. I was induced the next day and our first daughter was born sleeping. It's been very traumatic, as the whole conception and pregnancy had been a breeze up until this, and I never dreamed something like this could happen to us.
They discovered right after her birth that there was a large clot in the cord. I just received my blood work results and have no clotting disorders of any kind. Has anyone heard of this happening before on here? I searched and it appears most women with a clotting cord accident generally have a clotting disorder. Part of me is relieved to be free of any disorders, but then part of me is scared that there is no definable reason for what happened - just a true case of lightning striking. When we attempt to get pregnant again, I'll take an aspirin and have bi-monthly ultrasounds and non-stress tests, but it's scary to think it'll be 9 months of wait-and-see. Especially because what happened occurred literally overnight, after an evening of seeing and feeling her move all over the place.
Thank you all for the support and for listening.

I don't have any information about this, but I wanted to offer a hug, I'm sorry for your loss...
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a little one is a traumatic experience. I hope you can find some comfort from the women of this board.
I had a DVT and pulmonary embolism pre-pregnancy. I had a ton of testing done and they never found a disorder or a definitive reason. We think it had to do with the birth control (nuvaring) I was using at the time. After the PE I went to a specialist in Boston and he said that something like 80% of the time they don't know what causes a clot but every year they discover more and more clotting disorders. So technically I don't have a known clotting disorder but still ended up with multiple clots.
So with that in mind when I became pregnant the second time I took a baby aspirin until 13 weeks and then gave myself daily injections of Lovenox up until our loss at 21w. According to the perinatalogist the loss was not due to any clotting issues.
