I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but we are just starting to give DS whole milk and I had a few questions.
Pedi said to go ahead and start doing half formula, half milk if we wanted to but I don't feel I got too much clarity on how much and how frequent he is supposed to get it in a day.
Currently DS gets 4, 6oz bottles of formula/day. Am I just substituting each bottle amount for each feeding with milk and a sippy? So essentially, he will get 6 oz of whole milk 4x/day?? One at breakfast, lunch, late afternoon and bed time? Do I need to be dropping one of these and replacing with just a snack like for the late afternoon? I'm thinking I want to go cold turkey with the sippy with the exception of his bed time bottle just for a few weeks to see how everything else goes.
How often does your LO get milk in a day and what times do they get this? Sorry if this is beating a dead horse here, I'm sure I'm making this harder than it really is Thank you!
Re: Milk weaning question.
We haven't switched to milk yet (still have a 2 un-open cans of formula left). We will start blending it with milk in a week or so. We plan on doing it over a 10 day period, starting with 75/25 (formula/milk) for 4 days, 50/50 for 4 days, 25/75, for 2 days (this was recommended by our pedi).
She only drinks about 15 ounces of milk a day.
We will be replacing the morning sippy with a hard spout sippy soon but the bedtime sippy will stay a soft spout for a little while longer. She also get's water/juice during the day at snack times so she get's plenty of fluids.
Thank you Jenni, that was helpful!
The pedi didn't give us much of a timeline or direction on how to wean him onto milk so I'm kind of stressing about it. He just basically gave us the go ahead, but that was it. So I'm pretty much winging it over here.
Thanks for the helpful guideline and your time explaining this to me.
