Whew!

I think I mentioned in my intro (or another post) that my first appointment is not scheduled until May 16th.  I know we've all been reading that this is normal for you to not be seen until 9 or 10 weeks.  Thinking of the wait has been driving me crazy, and DH wants to at least tell his mom.  I just don't want to make a big production out of it and get our moms so excited before I have some sort of confirmation that things look okay in there.

Yesterday I called in to my doctor's nurse, just so I could know what to expect for our first appointment and see if there's anything I can do in the meantime (bloodwork, anything!)  She was SO sweet and said I didn't have to wait that long.  Since this is my first pregnancy she understands the wait can be agonizing, and is squeezing me in next week!!  I'm so glad I'll be able to get a little reassurance to at least be able to tell our moms.

So when I go in next week I will be exactly 5 weeks along.  What can they tell me at 5 weeks?  Can they see anything at that point to reassure me?

You would see a sac for sure..  The heartbeat usually starts around 5 weeks, so you could or could not see that.. But that wouldn't mean anything is wrong it would still need a little time..  It will look kind of like a black circle with a little white dot in.  Not a ton.. but totally fun to see.  Crossing my fingers you see and early heartbeat!!

I went in a 5 weeks 3 days because of some spotting (which the dr wasn't at all concerned with thank goodness) but we did an ultrasound and it looks like a white grain of rice in a black circle, was too early to see anything else. I showed my sister and she said it kind of looked like a hurricane hope tht helps and good luck!
