I've been lurking around this board for a week or so now, and tonight started commenting on some of the posts. Here's the short version of my long story:
My high risk pregnancy began at 19 weeks when they discovered enlarged kidneys during my anatomy ultrasound. I was referred to a perinatologist, who decided the kidneys would probably fix themselves....but found a chorioangioma on my placenta. Basically, its a benign tumor. It can affect the blood flow to baby's heart. Which can kill the baby. Scary stuff! I was told that most pregnancies with a chorioangioma present rarely make it past 26 weeks. Holy smokes. That's not good.
At 22 weeks, I was diagnosed with GD. Whatever. Not the best news, but I can totally handle that.
I began having twice weekly BPP's at 30ish weeks to make sure that she was doing ok, with the chorioangioma and all. She failed a TON of them. I think she was just sick of "performing"...move this way, breathe this way...blah, blah, blah. I was in and out of the hospital for monitoring.
I ended up having 52 ultrasounds TOTAL! No friggin joke. BUT my pregnancy went to 39w1d!! I was induced, since I had GD. 16 hours of labor, no progression, had a c-section. When they "delivered" the placenta, and checked out the chorioangioma, it was nearly 7 cm in size. My doctors were shocked that I was able to carry as long as I did with no side effects to the baby. The Lord was definately looking over us, that's for sure.
Today I have a VERY happy & healthy 8 month old baby girl. She's gorgeous and the love of our lives! I lurk around these boards, since I'm pretty sure that I'll have GD next time around also.
