Question about BM storage containers

Hello!  I'm wondering if someone could suggest what they use for BM storage in the fridge/freezer?  My lo was born 2 months early and spent time in the NICU so I have quite a supply in the freezer of Medela plastic bottles of bm.  After I ran out of the bottles, I purchased bm bags (Lansinoh) and have been using them to store the milk from pumping.  It's nice that the bags can be easily labeled, but they are TERRIBLE for pouring into bottles to mix/prepare.  Anyone have any other suggestions on storage?  Thanks!

Re: Question about BM storage containers

  • I use the Lansinoh bags for freezer milk too. I cut the top half off the bag off, right under where the seal is, and pour it into the bottle using the "horn" of the pump as a funnel.

  • I use large glass bottles (Quattro Stagioni brand - 33 oz) to store a whole day's worth of milk.  After I make the next day's bottles, I freeze whatever is left in the lasinoh bags.

  • I use freezer safe glass canning jars - brand name is Ball. They are really supposed to be for jelly. I buy them at the local hardware store. They come in different sizes so you can get what suits your needs. They are cheaper than those plastic medela bottles and can fit more. I get a 12 pack of 8 oz jars for 10.99. Also my LC said glass is better bc the hind milk doesn't stick to the sides as much as with plastic.
