Thank you ladies for your advice...

I am worried she will get comments such as those... being as she was 16...   I ended up speaking to her mom and let her know if she needed anything I was here.  I sent her my blog and let her know every situation and person is different and that I wouldn't tell her I know how she feels, but that I know how I felt and that maybe my story would provide her with some sort of comfort in a time where comfort really cannot be found.

I think it's wonderful that you reached out to her - even if through her mom.  I couldn't imagine being 16 and going through this and there really wouldn't be anyone she could talk to about it.  I think one of the "good deeds" we can do is to be there for all the new people who are now going through what we've gone through.  We all need support now and then.  My heart goes out to you and your student.

It is so incredibly lovely that you are doing this for your student.  When we lost Lucian, a friend's mom and my aunt who had both had losses reached out to us right away.  It definitely helps.  

You and your student will be in my T&Ps.
