April 2011 Moms

Still no period?

I'm still nursing LO and did have an IUD in for about 6 months (it's been out for a few months now) but still haven't had my period. Anyone else in this boat? Just wondering since we are talking about TTC but it's difficult to chart without my period. I swear I had PMS today though, maybe it's about to make it's debut after a 2 year hiatus - I'm more than a little nervous it might be a doozy Wink

Re: Still no period?

  • My period returned in January.  It was no big deal.  Then it skipped February.  In March I had the worst crazy insane awful no good very bad PMS of all eternity.  And the period lasted for a full week.  LAME.  We'll see about April, which *should* be around Wednesday, but I don't feel PMSy in the least.

Not that that's exactly what you asked, but I guess I felt compelled to whine for a minute.

I have been temping and using FF, since we want to start TTC in June (after my half marathon), and I want to try shettles for a girl (I know, I know, but a girl can hope, can't she?).  This month, around CD 15, my temp jumped for 3 days...and then it went back down.  I didn't temp while I was on vacay, but today it was back up.  I guess the moral of the story is that since having the baby and bfing, my cycle is wacko.

  • I thought I might have started my period for the first time last week, but I'm not sure that was it. I had two days of light spotting and then a few hours of extremely light flow and that was it.  I kind of expected my first one to be a doozy, too.  I marked it in FF so it started me at CD1, but I'm still not sure that was it.  I started temping just to see what's going on but so far my temps are kind of out of whack.

No flaming here : )... I read the book, too : ).  Unfortunately at 35 years old now I don't think I am going to have the patience to do it!  But, I also did some Medline research and found no evidence that it is actually proven to work, so I guess it's ok : ).  But, GL!

I had to look up the Shettles Method because I'd never heard of it. Supposedly, marijuana use by the male partner makes the Y sperm go too quickly and tire out before reaching the egg, so there's that method, too. If it's legal where you live Wink

Ha!!!  That's funny.  Haven't heard that one before.  I told DH tonight that he should start bicycling again, b/c apparently that lowers sperm count and favors female sperm b/c they are stronger.  He said no.  My hope is that my old age will make for "hostile" cervical fluid : ).

There you go! Cycling, pot use, old age... It'll be impossible to have a boy next time!

  • I haven't had AF either. I am still nursing on demand when I'm at home, and pumping once a day at work. With DS I didn't get AF back until I stopped pumping (at 12 months).  GL.

We did the Shettles method, it's how we got DD. I was charting. Here's what we did:

    1. DH's family pretty much only makes boys. All his siblings only have boys, and he only has 1 sister out of the 6 of them. I figured (based on having read Shettles' book) that DH's family has really high sperm counts- so we set about lowering DH's. (Hot baths, lots of taking care of himself, lots of sex)

    2. I used OPKs and we *stopped* having sex when I got a positive one.

    3. I ate lots of pineapple. I'm not sure whether or not it helped with implantation, but I thought it did.

I did also do my own research on Fertility friend. I have a blog post about it here.

Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but it's not going to hurt anything to try.
