pre-e/iugr and under close watch!

hi ladies....

well i was diagnosed with mild pre-e....urine levels were about mid 5s and bp's have been borderline high!  baby b is also smaller than they want her to be but still growing!!  her dopplers are a little concerning so they are being watched....i go 2x a week and i am on couch potato rest!  not easy with a 3 year old....

i am basically to be ready to go at anytime....!  so at any appnt they can pull the trigger...

Baby A weighs 4 lbs!  and baby B weighs just under 3!

once diagnosed....how long did you go with pre-e/IUGR or both??

Re: pre-e/iugr and under close watch!

  • I only lasted 5 days... but my BP wasn't borderline high... it was through the roof. I went to the ER and it was 222/165. But I was also 27w6d. I was given an emergency c/s at 28w4d b/c LO's tracings stopped looking good, his fluid was low, and the placenta was starting to have an absent flow.

But you seem like you still have some time with your proteins being still low and your bps being borderline.

Good Luck!!! Here is hoping for another 8 weeks!!!

  • I went 7 weeks! I was diagnosed with IUGR and extremely low AFI at 28 weeks. They sent me straight to L&D from a regular appointment.  MFM doctors suspected that this was the beginning on severe pre-e, which is was.  I was on hospital and home bed rest until 35 weeks when fluid dropped to almost none and protein was above 300 (ie official pre-e diagnosis).  He was born the next day - 3lbs 12ozs.

This is my story almost exactly (my protein never got super-scary, only in the 500's for the 24-hour, but my BP's were stroke-level high), except I was admitted at 27w4d and held on until 29w1d. I didn't have absent flow, but fluid was very low, the strip was mostly flat with some scary decels, and by the end I was on three different BP meds which is unheard-of, and my BPs were still high.

I had both, but my pre-e was severe and progressed rapidly.  I also had very low fluid, and they were only waiting for me to get both steroid shots before delivery.  I was 29w2d when I delivered though, so that's probably not as much of a help to you.

I can't remember what the criteria is for the steroid shots, but you may want to talk to your OB about it if you already haven't.

yep got the steroid shots:)  so we are good there!!  :)

  • I went for about a week and a half with pre-E...it escalated very quickly.  I would get a blood pressure cuff and watch yourself closely.  Even with full hospital bedrest, my pressure was sky high the week after they first detected it and I was spilling +7 in my urine.  I would go into the OB for regular blood pressure checks every couple days if you're not watching it yourself.  It's amazing how fast things can happen.

    Best of luck to you!

  • At my 20 week appointment with my OB we saw that the baby wasn't developing on track so we were referred to a high risk doctor.  DS2 was severely IUGR and we lasted till 27w6d.  I also had pre-e.

  • I had TONS of swelling from about 22 weeks on. My BP started to rise around 27 weeks but my 24 hour urine was only like 192 so they wrote it off as just my chronic HTN and increased my meds a little. At 28 weeks 1 day, my BP was around 170/94 and my urine dip was 1+, the next day my BP was about the same but my urine dip was 4+ (in less than 24 hours it jumped that much) so they sent me straight to L&D and gave me a steriod injection for baby's lungs. At L&D they did a 24 hour urine and it came back 1900. So, in less than a week it jumped from 192 to 1900. So, they diagnosed severe pre-e. That was a Tuesday that I was admitted and DD was delivered by emergency c-section on Sunday evening. So, my progressed fast. Every case is different though. Just do what they say and take it easy. I hope your LO gets to cook a little longer!

  • I never truly developed pre-e. instead, I got hELLP at 31w. At my anatomy scan at 20w, she was measuring in the 10th percentile on some things, and I had cord notching (?), which was an indicator for iugr.

She was born at about the same size as a 27/28 weeker.

  • My son was diagnosed with IUGR at about 21 weeks. My bp started getting high around 32 weeks. Diagnosed with pretty severe pre-e at 33weeks6days. I had the baby the very next day via c-section.
