DS has pretty much always been an early riser. For the longest time he woke up at 5:30am. He finally stopped a few months ago and started sleeping until 6:30-6:45. Now in the last few weeks he is back to 5:15-5:30am
We use the room darkening shades, white noise, etc. The only thing i can think of that would be waking him up is he still has his pacifier?
Anyone have any luck with DC sleeping better after they got rid of the paci? Any other things work for you to get your DC to sleep later?
Right now DS goes to bed b/w 7:30-8 and wakes up around 5:30. He naps for a about 2-2.5 hours? Should i adjust bedtime or the limit the nap?
thanks
Re: help! early morning wake ups!!! (could it be the paci?)
We recently phased out my son's paci by snipping the end of it.....after a few days he gave it up voluntarily. To our surprise he sleeps about an hour later than before. He now wakes up between 6:30-7:00 instead of 5:00-5:30. I can't explain but it has helped for us and my son seems more well rested as well.
DD hasn't used a paci for almost a year now, so no advice there. We do adjust her bedtime to influence her wakeup time. Sun-Thu we put her down at 8p and she wakes at about 7a. On Fri and Sat we put her down at 9p and she sleeps until 8a. She still naps at daycare, but rarely at home on the weekends.
If he doesn't turn into a bear late at night then I would try to push his bedtime later and see what happens. DD was really bad about getting up early a couple months ago and that is what we did. I also went and put her back in bed and told her that it was still sleepy time. Good luck!
