I'm writing this post from my hospital bed and on my phone, so I apologize in advance for the lack of proper spacing and lack of spell check. i had my little boy, by c section Friday, April 6th @ 5:10pm. He was born at 34 weeks and 1 day, weighing 3 pounds and is 16 inches long. the entire pregnancy was rough, started out by losing his twin, and almost losing him. i was put on light duty at work. At the a/s at 21 weeks, we realized my crohns disease ( and lack of proper ability to absorb nutrients) was taking a toll on him. Diagnosed with IUGR and severe low fluid. Wasnt given much hope by the specialist, so I went back to my Ob, and he was great. our first goal was to make it to viabilty. At 26 weeks I got the steroid injection series. I was put on modified bedrest at 26 weeks. I had twice weekly Nsts & Bpps. Dopplers & growth scans rotating weeks and my Ob appt once a week. We were doing alright and holding steady gaining about a pound a month
Re: just introducing myself. * sorry it's long*
Congratulations on your new son! I'm glad to hear that he has been able to be on room air. I hope that he continues to tolerate his feeds and that he doesn't need to spend a long time under the UV lights.
The ladies on this board are very helpful and supportive. I hope that you have a short and uneventful NICU stay. GL!

First of all congrats on your LO!! I'm very sorry to hear about his twin!! We have a very similar pregnancy story. I have twins that were born at 34w2d, my daughter was IUGR (3lb,4oz) son SGA (4lb7oz). My son was getting the bulk of the nutrition. I had many issues throughout pregnancy and we discovered growth issues at 25w and watched very closely till birth( also had lung collapse at 14w, cholestasis (30w), GD, and pre-eclampsia the day I had them (was in for a 24 hour urine) and my son all of a sudden was having decels and we went for emergency c-section within that hour (the cord had wrapped tight around his belly and they got them out!). I think it was good though considering she was severe IUGR and I was very scared for both of them! I also have IBS and absorbtion issues (had to get B12 shots even though I was on a pre-natal with 2k percent of B12).
Please know that your LO even though small is a fighter and will probably surprise you with how well he does! My girl had a better time in NICU then her brother who needed a little more help than her. She was in for 24 d, him 22. If you ever need to talk definitely page me. We have been out of the NICU for 3 weeks and she is now 5 and 1/2 pounds <: and she gets very mad if we don't feed her on time!!

Congrats on making it so far on bedrest! I also lost my son's twin but he didn't hold on much longer. I hope your LO's stay is short and sweet and you can cuddle that baby in your home.
