CDs leaking

My son is 3 months and he has been wearing Thirsties AIO in the small size.  They work most of the time but sometimes they leak even though they seem to fit him well.  One time I put a CD on him and then he played on his activity mat for on his back and the diaper was hardly wet but his back was all wet.  Other times if he's sitting in the swing they leak on the sides.  I still haven't tried to put a CD on him for nightime either since they don't always work during the day.  Any advice?

You could try stripping them. Just use a few drops of blue dawn dish soap. But if you have a high efficiency washer I'm not sure how much dawn to put in. It may cause a lot of bubbles.

The only leaks I have with them is either poor fit, or pointing issues.  Yes, pointing... the beauty of boys!  I know this sounds odd, but as my boys have gotten older, I found I have to um, tuck, his bits downward as I pull the diaper up.  Especially with my toddler - if he's not pointing downward, he will literally pee OVER the microfiber and leak all over.

Did the leaks just start recently, past couple of weeks or has it been happening from day one. Because, from the situation you describe, the pee is running along the path of least resistance instead of being absorbed by the diaper, so perhaps there is buildup and a strip will help. What detergent are you using, and what is your wash routine and do you know if you have hard or soft water?

If you slowly pour water onto a clean diaper, does it absorb in or run off? You might need to size up if the diapers are still absorbant.
