We have removed everything but the cribs from the room. They have one window in the room that is tall and skinny, low to the floor and almost up to the ceiling. The window up till now has had felt velcroed to the inside of the window with a screen over that and a blackout curtain. But this weekend they learned how to take the screen off (how...I have no idea) so we took that out of the room. Then they started yanking on the curtain so we had to get rid of that before they ripped the curtain rod out of the wall. And tonight they ripped all the felt off the window (that was heavy duty velcro!). I am of the opinion that they need to learn to sleep with or without light...DH is going to put garbage bags up on the outside of the window. He thinks I am ridiculous to be concerned with how awful the house is going to look.
Anyway, what can I do to the inside of the window so I dont end up with trash bags stapled to the outside of my house?
Re: Need some advice on what to do with window in kids room
Personally, I would put the blackouts back up and then a dresser in front of the window until they are at a more reasonable age that they aren't interested in them or can understand that they just aren't to touch it. My 2.5 yr olds are definitely exploratory and like to take things apart, but they are able to refrain from touching the few huge off-limits things, so I'm sure yours are not far behind.
Good luck!
Lowes and/or Home Depot make some window film. From what I understand it sticks to the window and is meant to block out the sun. ]https://www.lowes.com/pl_Window+Film_4294856881_4294937087_?Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1

I'm afraid to put the dresser back in b/c there isn't a way to anchor it to the wall if it's in front of the window...and mine are climbers. They are good about not messing with the curtains in any other room and on the rare occassions that they start playing in the curtains I only have to say something once and they are done.
Will check into the window film, maybe they will leave that alone? DD likes to pick at stuff.
This is just annoying!
Oh man. And I know how they are in pairs teaming up. Hope the film works! Would there be a way to put the film on the outdside of the window? Good luck!
