how long before you started to lift your older LO after your c-section? DD weighs 20lbs, and 10 days out, i'm not attempting to lift her, but i really want to!

I'm still pregnant, so this are just my thoughts. I don't think you'll hurt yourself anymore, at this point. I would suggest trying to carry her without lifting her, first. I have a harder time picking up DD than actually carrying her.
AFter 1 1/2wks I was on my own. I didn't pick ds1 up much b/c he's was/is a big boy. I did on several occassions have to pick him up through. I just lifted with my legs and bent down to him to lift him up
DH stayed home for 2 weeks. After he went back to work, I only lifted him if I absolutely had too. It was maybe a few times a day. It hurt really bad, I won't lie, but I also didn't have a choice being by myself. By 3-4 weeks I was fine to pick him up.
I did it on day 2...was in the hospital and she came running up wanting me to pick her up and it was just habit...it really didn't hurt and I just made sure I was careful. I'm sure if my dr knew she would be mad but I never hurt anything and healed completely fine.
this was stressing me out a lot, because I lift DD to do anything- put in bath, put in crib, put on changing table, take off changing table, put in carseat, put in high chair, etc. so, i asked my dr....she said that the common advice is not to do it for at least two weeks, then guage your level of recovery and go from there, but that in all reality, it is ok if you are careful...because people do it, have always done it, many moms have no choice if DH is not home, etc...but just to be careful.
I will have #2 Monday and am still not really sure how this will all pan out, but definitely am stressing about this issue, too.
