Methotrexate Questions

Hi ladies. First of all, Happy Easter to everyone. I hope we are all able to have a great holiday and enjoy time with our families.

I have a couple questions about methotrexate experiences. I had the shot on 3/26, and only began bleeding on Wednesday of this week. (This is aside from the brown spotting I have had the entire pregnancy.) I have passed several small clots and the bleeding has been very severe at times. Is this normal? I didn't think it was supposed to take so long to start. Also, how long after the shot did you begin taking vitamins again. I took a once a day before being pregnant and a prenatal up until the 26th. I miss my routine and want to start it up again. I feel like that will be just one more way for my life to get back to "normal."

I would really appreciate any feedback you can give me!

From what I understand about MTX, people can react really differently and it's really hard to predict what will happen. I got my shot on 3/15 and started bleeding 2 days later. I have been bleeding on and off for 3 weeks now, but the worst of it, with bad cramping, heavy bleeding, and passing a large clump happened about a week after my shot. 

 

Your hcg levels are what is important in terms of whether it's working. So sorry you're going through this. Good luck

Sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure there is a "normal" re: bleeding.  I bled for probably 4-6 weeks after the shot and it varied in terms of how heavy it was.  I didn't pass much tissue.  

As far as the vitamin, do not start taking again until you reach 0 hcg.  The folic acid counteracts the methotrexate.
