Late Term and Child Loss

When will AF visit?

I am just wondering how long it was for everyone when the lost to have a visit from AF? I know its different for everyone.....just wondering what to expect. Beside the reminder of the loss of our little one. I just want to prepare myself as much as I can. I hoping it falls towards the end of the month but we will see. Sorry to get so personal.

Re: When will AF visit?

  • My MD said between 6-8 weeks...but like you said...everyone is different. Im not quite sure there is any good way to prepare.

  • I got mine five weeks after.  Emotionally I'm not sure there's anything you can do to prepare.  Physically, be warned that the cramping can be very intense.  I had to leave work because of it.  It felt a little like contractions and made me vomit.  Be forwarned... it's a terrible reminder of what we've lost.

  • I bled for 8 weeks and then went right into AF. It was very heavy the fist time. I went back on the pill right after that and now I am back to normal.

  • Mine was about 6 weeks after.  A little heavier than normal - but not as awful as I had prepared myself for.  The scariest thing was seeing blood - since our loss was due to an abruption the sight of blood gave me a lot of anxiety - even though in my head I knew this was a normal period.
