With pumping, if I have 5oz bottles that I pump into, but only get 2oz from each side - is there any issue with combining them into one? Issues being that there is a weird mixture of foremilk and hindmilk? Is this ever an issue even if I didn't pump the bottles at the same time, but mix them anyway?
Also, with pumping is there an issue with giving a bottle of milk in the middle of the day if I pumped it the night before? Isn't there something about milk production being specific to the time of day for a baby's needs?
Re: Mixing bottles?
I pump into 2-5oz bottles as well & ALWAYS combine my two bottles. I am lucky if I get over 5oz between both breasts (pumping every 3 hours at work). I also combined milk from different pumping sessions all the time to make full bottles. As long as the milk is the same temperature it should not be a problem. I have never had LO complain regarding his bottle being too lean or too fatty (ie..looking for more food after his bottle is empty, excessive spit-up, ect). I would try not to overthink that whole thing too much.
And since I only work 3 days a week, LO gets milk pumped on Fridays sometimes not until Wednesday. Again, never had a problem with this. I wouldn't think ANYTHING of giving DS a bottle in the afternoon that I had pumped last night. IMO, it's NBD. HTH!
