Return a gift?

DH and I are in a disagreement about a gift.  We were going to nanny share with a family.  I had some communication issues with the nanny and she didn't want me to run a background check, so I am not comfortable using her.  We have been very friendly and are just telling her that our daycare center can take us early (we were only using her for a few months).

Despite the odd behavior recently, she seemed very sweet and even crocheted DD some adorable purple shoes.  DH says I need to return the gift to her.  I think it would be offensive and plus I picked out an Easter dress that would match the shoes.

I would probably keep them also.  Sounds like you don't want to hurt her feelings by telling her you plan on using the daycare early instead of her, so she might get the feeling something is up if you return the gift.

I would keep them. It would be rude and super awkward to return them.

Slightly unrelated but, what are you really going to do before the daycare becomes available if you aren't going to be using the nanny?

She made them for your DD, I doubt she wants them back. I think that it would be rude to return the gift to her. To me a gift is a gift, and I wouldn't want someone to give one back to me especially if I made it. I think it would hurt my feelings.

I have a week to figure that out.  I am actively setting up interviews now.  Unfortunatly, I don't have family available.
