My LO just started taking the bottle at 5 months. But he hates the BM that I have frozen!!! I was wondering if I can mix, let's say, 2fresh ozs with 1 frozen oz??
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Is there an odor/bad taste to your frozen BM? Read this post on kellymom in case you have a lipase excess. If so, you may need to scald all milk before freezing going forward. There is also a good sticky on the LLL forums about lipase.
Milk with excess lipase is not harmful, but baby may reject it (my DD did). If your's does, even when mixing with fresh, consider donating to a milk bank.
Yes. When I take frozen milk out of the freezer I thaw it in the fridge and within 10 hours it is usually ready to be used. Most of my bags have 3-4oz in them so I pour 1.5-2 oz in a bottle and mix it with refrigerated milk to get 1/2 fresh 1/2 frozen. This creates two bottles for LO. Just make sure you then use it in the 14 hours you have left in the 24 hour period.

My LO wouldn't take my frozen milk very well either, and I suspect I have a high(er than normal) lipase issue. My milk smells sort of metallic out of the freezer. The good news is that once he got very used to bottles and taking them at DC, and I did a couple half and halves like you're planning, he was taking them well, so I just started sending full frozen bottles and he took them just fine.
This was all after I had trashed a LOT of my supply by defrosting and smelling and trying and tossing...etc. I still can't believe how much milk I wasted. So I would definitely try the half and half thing and hold onto the milk you have, just in case you have good luck in the future getting your LO to take it. GL!
