I'm reading that a 2 yr old can have a pea sized amount of regular toothpaste but they must spit out the excess. Um, how would I get my 25m old to spit it out? Does anyone still use the training toothpaste after 2?

Re: Toothpaste for a 2 year old
I use regular floride toothpaste for DD, and I've never even tried to get her to spit. We usually buy the Colgate toothpaste with Disney princesses on it, but I've used my Crest for her before too.
DD's dentist said there is absolutely no problem with DD swallowing a small amount of regular toothpaste.
My dad is a dentist, and growing up we swallowed regular toothpaste instead of spitting until late elementary school. (My dad didn't trust us to brush our own teeth until then :-) )
