BG 4.0 help please :)

We just started using the cloth diapers today.  My little guy is 4 weeks 4 days and 10 lbs 8 oz.  I have put him in the diapers twice and they have leaked twice.  I am 99% there is operator error involved in the leaking!

The first time I put him in with a newborn insert.  He soaked it and it leaked out the legs.   The second time I put the fold over insert.  He pooped and I guess peed.  The poop stayed in no problem.  However the pee came out the top and the legs.  Here is the odd part.  I took out the liner and it was not wet at all.  I felt around the diaper and it was also not wet. If you just look at the diaper you would assume he didn't pee.  However the wetness on my jeans and his clothes says otherwise!!

Any ideas or good places to look for a video or information on how to use these??

He just might not be quite big enough for them yet.  Is he tall?  When you put the diaper on check the leg holes - are there gaps?  If so, you'll have leaks.  Is it tight enough around his waist?  You might have to play around to get a good fit.  The OS diapers didn't start fitting DD decently until she was around 11 pounds, though I guess your little guy is about there.

If the insert isn't wet at all, I'd be worried your diapers are repelling.

My guess is they're not snug enough. I know that some will be quick to say they're repelling, but for a smaller baby, I would guess there is some gaping in the leg.

For reference, my son is almost 14 pounds and still on the very smallest settings. He definitely would not have fit in his OS dipes at 10 pounds!

This exactly. Make sure his penis is pointed down and ensure the waist is tight.

Agree with PP that this may be a fit issue. DD is 12 lbs and on the smallest rise and smallest waist settings. Anything looser would result in leaks for sure.

Absolutely this. My DS is around 14 lbs and I've only felt in the last 2 weeks that we are consistently getting a good fit in OS diapers.

Thank you for the help!  I was sure I was just putting them together wrong but it sounds like it is just not a good fit yet.  I put him in one today and there is still some gaps.  When I pulled it SUPER tight we didn't leak.  I'll probably just wait another few pounds  At the rate he is gaining that could be in the next few days!!
