And I am wondering if this makes a difference. I was looking at the website of one RE (not mine) and it said something like- available 7 days a week- if your fertility clinic isn't they don't care about getting you pregnant.
Of course, I know how important timing is with all this. This made me think. Recently, my best date for an IUI coincided with a really important meeting at work. I had to try to juggle my schedule- I asked if the RE could do the IUI in the afternoon (same day) instead of the first thing in the morning. The nurse was pretty rude about it and said I needed to be making having a child my first priority. Fine, OK- I got the time off. However- what if that crucial time happened on a Sunday? Would this nurse and the RE be coming in? They are closed on Sunday. Suddenly, the timing aspect just got more flexible, I guess.

Re: Is your RE open on a Sunday?
My clinic is open 7 days a week, but they do close for holidays. I don't know what would happen if an ER or ET fell on a holiday.
(Although, I haven't actually been to see him yet...) My RE's office is open from 8:00 am to noon on Saturday and Sunday.
On another note, I have read on here that many RE's seem to like you to come first thing in the morning for monitoring. We live 2.5 hours away from our clinic (the only RE in the state. le sigh). Not looking forward to the early morning drives!
But I do find it quite ironic that THEY get to decide how important the timing is...

My RE is available 365 days a year for timing sensitive monitoring and procedures. But all of the monitoring is limited to the morning. I think they try to work with you though. I am a little annoyed, because I have to have a hysteroscopy done, and they will only do this on a Tuesday.
I am also in Chicago. I go to FCI River North.
All Welcome!

BFP! Singleton due 3/18/13!
Ours has regular open hours 365 days a year for cycle monitoring. (Only for 45 minutes early in the morning on Sundays and holidays) I don't know all the details for ER/ET, but I would assume that if those days fell on a weekend or holiday that they would do it then? I mean, it's not like they're going to cancel a cycle because you're not ready during banking hours? That would be one heck of an investment lost.
And I also think that that's some strange wording that they put in there. It almost makes me think that they're trying to work on the emotions of patients so that they go with them instead of some clinic that doesn't "care about getting [them] pregnant" you know? Kind of rude if you ask me.

Praying unceasingly for a miracle. ALL welcome!
My RE is there for me whenever I need him to be - Saturday, Sunday, Easter - Christmas. You name it.
I did an IUI on Christmas once. I felt so guilty it didn't work.
My RE is in a single-physician practice though. He does everything. His cell phone is on the office voicemail - no answering service.
I asked him once if he ever went on vacation. His response was that he took the wife and kid to Austin for the weekend last year. (Austin is 3 hours away).
I go to FCI in Hoffman Estates, they are not open on Sat or Sun at all...I was thinking that too what if the crucial time is on the weekend? Mon and Fri at my clinic are super busy! its funny that the drs dont think we have jobs, how do they think we are footing the bill for the services we have to pay for there!!!
My dr only works 2 days a week in the Hoffman Estates office from 9-1:45, my ob recommended her so I did so there but i dont have to see the dr that often, mostly its blood and u/s...those hrs are not very convenient at all for me!
Versace: that is interesting- FCI is so huge- you would think they would be open on weekends. Maybe they would send you to another facility in their network if something crucial needed to be done on a weekend?
We saw Dr. Sipe (FCI- River North) for an initial consult. We ended up not going with FCI. If I had better insurance coverage, we might have. But we are out of pocket for alot of things and wanted somewhere that was more flexible on the pricing, and also where I'd get more interaction with the actual RE throughout th process (not the nurse). I did not get that vibe from Dr. Sipe at all.
GL!
