I am a funeral director and had to go pick up a stillborn baby today at the hospital (where I will deliver). The baby was 2 weeks gestation behind me. So, now I'm paranoid. I will be going home to find the heart beat. I know it's all part of the job, but I think for the next 10 weeks they could have someone else go if it's a baby.
Re: Paranoid...thanks to my job!
I work in the ER and the other night the chaplain that volunteers and one of the other girls was talking about a couple losses at our hospital - one was 20 wk twins and the other one was almost full term and stillborn - all within one hour on the same day. Boy, did that scare me a bit too.
I think it's no problem to ask someone else to go if that happens again.
