My Pedi said this is a "new well baby" appointment. My other two kids did not have a 2.5 year appointment. He said some insurances are just starting to allow them--apparently ours does...[Poll]
I'm actually really glad my son does also. There were major health concerns at his 2 year appointment (enlargement of the spleen and liver~ Hepatosplenomegaly) that was unfounded/went away on its own. We never found out why through many, many tests & specialist. I think this will further help ease my mind.
I clicked SS because DS1 and DS2 had them but my younger three kids didn't / won't. Our old insurance covered a 2.5 visit, but our current one does not, so we CAN go, but we will have to pay out of pocket. If we have concerns we will go, but DD2 is doing well right now so I don't think we will.
We did, but we go into see the pediatrician a lot for non-sick visits, so I barely even noticed that it was a special thing. I just called to make an appointment to talk to the doctor about potty training and stuff, and they told me that we would call it DD's 30 month well baby visit.
I never thought about insurance coverage for stuff like that. DD's ped spreads out vaccines (never more than 1 shot at a time), so when she was an infant I'm pretty sure we were there every month!! I've never paid more than my regular co pay.
We did it. DS1 has several weight & eating issues. We had been referred to the GI about 1 month before his well check. I was able to tell her about his milk, egg, wheat & whey allergies. As well as elevated Celiac antibodies + one of the Celiac genes. She kind of didn't believe me before about his eating difficulties. We were also able to get a weight on him to show that he had been dropping weight.

I will definitely do one with DS2.
