Success after IF

Biopsy results

Hi everyone. Just wanted to update you that I got the results of my thyroid biopsy today. I have papillary thyroid carcinoma, as they suspected. The doctor says it is "curable" and I should be fine. I will have surgery to remove my thyroid and nearby lymph nodes, followed by a radiation pill treatment. No chemo.

I am still pretty shocked that I have cancer, but I am doing all right otherwise. Please, nothing on Facebook yet, as I want to keep the news within friends and family at least today. I will probably say something about it on FB soon, which seems like sort of a weird thing to say on FB, but it's the easiest way to communicate to a large number of people quickly.

I appreciate all the support and offers of help last week when I posted about having the biopsy, and I'll keep you guys updated.

  • Oh my goodness...I was so hoping you would get better results.  I hate that you have to go through this.

I didn't get to post on your original thread...but I wanted to let you know that I have had a thyroidectomy for suspected thyroid cancer.  It turned out to be benign, but having been through the surgery you are about to go through, I have a few tips for you.

Let me get my rowdy children situated and I'll send send you a message on FB.

  • So sorry you have to deal with this, I will be thinking of you. I wanted to share that a friend of mine just had this procedure a couple of months ago and it went really smoothly.
