C-sections

numbness in tummy after c-section?

It's been about 3.5 months since my c-section and my stomach area is numb from my belly button to my inscision, will this ever go away?  It's kind of weird, I don't like it.

Re: numbness in tummy after c-section?

  • For me the numbness got to be a smaller area. But my 1st DS is 4 and I still have it. It isn't that noticeable anymore though.

  • Over 2 years later, my stomach is still numb.  My doctor said it sometimes goes away but for most it doesn't.  I hated it in the beginning!  But I barely notice it anymore.

  • I had it for at least a year, though the area got smaller as time went by. it all depends on where and how the doctor had to cut for the incision.

  • My OB said it goes away for some and not for others, and the extent that it goes away is different for everyone.  She said she had a c/s 10+ yrs ago and still has a small spot that is numb, but most of the feeling came back.

  • Yeah it gets smaller. I am 16 months PP from my 2nd c/s and I still have numbness, but it is smaller.

  • I am 20 months out from my first c/s and I still have numbness. For me though it has not gotten smaller it has stayed the same but gotten less noticeable.
  • well, it's good to know that either it will get smaller or I'll get used to it.  Right now it is such a weird sensation, I hate it.

  • It does get smaller. I was numb above my incision for awhile too but now, at 9 months, its just the incision thats numb.
  • I have had 3 c-sections...my last just a little over 2 years ago, and I am now pregnant again. Honestly, the area that is numb has grown with each c-section. I now have a pretty large area of my lower abdomen that is numb. It makes me nervous for c-section #4. I know it is common, but it does bother me. Some may get used to it, but I haven't.  I hope to one day have a tummy tuck and lose the area that is numb!
