My husband really likes the name Gage because it sounds mechanical (he's an engineer). I don't mind the name gage but a) it reminds me of pet sematary b) I don't want to name my child something I'm just ok with. Any other mechanically inclined names out there that are unique but not "u'neek"?
Re: Mechanical names?
Thank you! I am kind of at a loss for what is mechanical aside from gage but maybe miles could count because it's a measurement?
Here are some names that have precious metal meanings:

Unfortunately, Haephestus didn't have any children with names that have modern equivelants, and I didn't see any other names that drew from his name.

I did find something when I searched for the sons of Vulcan (Roman version of the metalworking/blacksmith god, Hephaestus):
https://www.pantheon.org/articles/e/erichthonius.html (don't read too much into the story - all the myths were awful - however he did become the King of Athens)
But instead of Erichthonius, what about Eric?
Then as a middle name you could either go with a direct metal name, or with a family name.

I like Gage......but oh yeah, that kid from Pet Cemetary is Creeepy!!
How about Gere (Gear) ... just a thought
When DH narrowed my list it was Joel, Axel or Abel. I thought Joel more common about 40 years ago (at least in or area), DH though Axel just gave too much car part thought, so Abel won. Still love Axel though too.
