powdered vs premade formula

is there a difference between intake of powdered vs the premade?  i noticed with my lo that he will suck down 4oz of enfamil newborn premade bottles but only takes abt 1-2oz of the powdered version of the same.  i make it exactly as it says on pkge....the nipple is different....should i maybe go with the next lvl nipple? hes only 2weeks so not even sure if thats a good idea......any advise?

Re: powdered vs premade formula

  • We avoided giving powder formula. My husband said there's a risk of some bacterias in powder version where ready to drink does not.

(Not sure if you use Similac, but they recently had a powder recall. I get free samples all the time, but we don't use them. Once our LO gets older, we may try it.)

  • What nipples do you have on your bottles (not the predmade formula bottles)? Maybe you can just get some bottles with those nipples if they are not the same style.  He may just prefer that kind because there isn't a difference between premade and powdered as long as you shake up the formula completely there will be no clumps and it'll be smooth just like the premade. HTH.

we are using the parents choice bottles with liners....the nipples are both slow flow but the new bottle nipple is alot bigger then the premade bottles we were giving him....i will try getting him a new bottle tomarrow and see if that works...thanks for the advise :)
