DD is 10 months and we have room shared for her whole life. My DH snores loudly and would wake DD frequently, so because of this he has been in his own room. It has started to create some issues so we decided to move DD into her own room. My heart is heavy, anyone else move LO into their own room and have some words of support? I could really use them
Re: Moving LO to own room
We just moved LO into his own room. I'm not going to say I'm not still a little sad about it or that it's not harder on days that I work and don't get much time with him, but it was the best choice for everyone.
Does your DD STTN? We start with a very cuddly bedtime/morning routine, then if he wakes up before 4ish I nurse/rock him back to sleep in his own room. After 4ish I bring him to our bed, for the simple reason that I just lack the energy or will to stick to our plan at that hour, lol. He actually started sleeping much better in his own room- from 2-3 (-4,5,6...) wakings to 1 or 0 on particularly lovely nights
Hang in there mama! It doesn't have to be permanent. Just try it for a couple weeks and reevaluate.
My LO is almost 7 months and I know I need to do this soon too! I'm sure he wakes up more than he should because of me/us.
I'm dreading for a number of reasons to do this. He's only slept on me or next to me his whole short life! LOL! I know I'm the one who needs to get over it! I'm sure my little guy will sleep much better in his crib (or longer hopefully).
But I can definitely understand your heavy heart!
It is such a sad time when they move to their own room. I couldn't sleep well for a week and I would go in to check on her multiple times a night. I think (or in my case, know) that is is a LOT harder on us mamas than it is for the babies. DDs slept better and longer in their own room. They both took to it quickly and easily.
We bedshared with DD1 until she was 12 months and DD2 until she was 14 months.
