Seriously.
DS is 13 mo. He has a LOT of toys. A LOT. And I won't let him eat candy (obv.) and heaven knows since I'm currently a weight watchers truancy case that I don't need to eat his candy.
He already has a stuffed bunny ...
And I figure he won't "get" it anyway ...
So I kind of feel like maybe that makes me a cr@ppy mom?
FWIW we are doing a benefit walk for Easter Seals on Saturday and there will be a bunny there and an egg hunt (I fully expect the extend of his experience there will be to pick up an egg in each hand and happily bang them together)
Anyone else not doing a big easter basket??
Re: Not doing an easter basket,... does that mean I suck?
Nicholas is 3 and this is the first year he is getting an Easter Basket. To be honest with you, I'm actually debating whether or not to give it to him. Sunday, even though it's Easter is going to be like any other day for me. DH is working all day, My mom is out of town and so is my sister. I can't even go to Church, cause it is so hard to be with both kids by myself and there is no nursery there. So I may just save it and give it to him next year.
I really didn't see the point of giving him one when he was 13 months old (2 yrs ago). So no you don't suck.
Thanks ladies! Glad I'm not the only one!
I also find the guy-in-a-giant bunny suit uber creepy...
I am not sure if I'll actually go through with pictures...
Nope. Caroline didn't get one her first Easter...and Parker is only getting one this year because Caroline is.
I also have NEVER had my kids pics made with Santa or the Easter Bunny...and probably will never. I just can't see the point. The kids hate it, and the bunnies are creepy.
Caroline did get her pic made with Santa at school this year...and she was totally not into it. She kept giving him the side eye, it was hilarious.
Last year we just did beach toys and bubbles for his "basket" since we needed those things anyway.
This year he "gets" it more and keeps talking about the Easter Bunny and the eggs he got at the egg hunt, so I have to do something more Easter bunny like - but candy will not be center stage this year either. My MIL already got him a chocolate bunny that is bigger than him - so that is (more than) enough!
Anyway - no it does not make you horrible! Your child is still so young, it is not like he will know or remember.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I don't really get how Easter has turned into another Christmas anyway. Bah humbug.
(and yet, I'm doing Easter baskets this year because it seems like "everyone" expects it - just coloring books, sidewalk chalk, and bunny books)
Not at all... like you said, he is 13 months.
Henry got his first basket last yr at almost 20 months. There wasn't much in it either. We don't go all out for Easter. This year he's getting a little candy and a few trinkety toys (play doh and bubbles).
