1st Trimester

BFP!

"Two lines", that's all that I could say to my DH when reading the HPT.  I'm still quite shocked that it happened this quickly and elated that the time is now!

I've made my prenatal appointments and will be going to see the doctor for the first appointment near the end of the month.  This is my first pregnancy and I have a question for you ladies - did you test with HPT's every now and again until your first appointment?  For no reason other than to be cautious, I'm scared that this may end up in a mc.

Stick baby, stick!

Re: BFP!

  • Congratulations! :)

I totally know what you mean about chronic testing...I got my BFP at 11 DPO and have been testing ever since. My first lines were really faint, and have gotten darker thankfully, but not as dark as I would like to see.

    Good luck to you! :)

  • Congrats on the good news and welcome.

I definitely tested more than once. I have had previous losses, though, and also had to attend a strenuous military training for a week right after I found out and it made me nervous. If you feel the need, why not?

    Welcome and congrats!!

I had a m/c last August. I just recently found out i was pregnant again and i had left over tests so i took one once a week until my first appt was (which was only twice) just because i was still kind of in shock and just wanted to make sure it was accurate. Crazy, i know! But once you have a m/c well it's just different! And if you have a m/c (god forbid) you'll know...there will be blood and cramping etc (from my experience) so no need! Just stay calm healthy and happy :)

    H & H 9 months to you!!

  • Thanks ladies! I'm trying not to stress about this pregnancy however my DH and I have had quite an eventful two weeks leading up to the BFP.  First, this has been the most stressful point in time during my DH's career, which definitely filters down into my everyday.  As well as last week, we put in an offer on a house and are now in midst of doing all the necessary steps during the contract period which has it's own hiccups and issues.  Then on Sunday night, we had someone try to break into our house while we were home.  That experience was stressful as well as scary (as you might imagine).  After the police left, I felt pains in my stomach that were like a good old fashioned tummy ache and not like PMS cramps.  The following evening I was recalling this story to a neighbor and again the stomach ache returned.  Since I don't usually get stomach aches, DH and I decided that it's time to take a HPT in which that was the BFP.  So, this BFP is only adding to this memorable and eventful time of our lives.  We're both very happy for this blessing and I'm trying to be healthy, positive and keep any stress away as much as possible.

BTW, I explained the stomach ache pains to the appointment setter when making my prenatal appointments and she went through a list of abdominal pains that I should be concerned about and a tummy ache wasn't on that list.  Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?  I'm thinking the ache was most likely stress induced from the attempted home invasion.
