Talk to me about flat spots...

DS has one. We spend time on different surfaces, I wear him, hold him and carry him, but it is still there. Dr. Sears says flat spots are only a cosmetic concern.

Does your LO have one? Are you worried? Am I going to spend the next 2 months worrying until he can sit up on his own?

  • DD's soft spots seem to be changing/ shifting a little which worries me. We were just at the doctor though and she said she looked great.

  • My daughter has a slight one. The dr said her head looked fine. I'm trying not to worry about it. Once she enjoys tummy time more or sits up, I know it'll go away.

Same thing for DS. No one's head is really perfect anyway, just think a lot of people have odd shaped heads, but their hair covers it up (unless it's shaved/bald)!

  • E's head is flat on the right side (back).  Pedi said it's mild, but to keep her off her head as much as possible - hold her rather than having her in a swing, bouncer, etc. during the day.  I made this request of day care and I've been worrying constantly about how much time they let her sit around.  Pedi mentioned looking for improvement at the 4 month appointment.  I'm just praying it resolves itself and we don't have to have her in a doc band.
