So my story is pleny long....like I am sure most of you...but today I am a bit baffled. I am on my first round of Femara after Clomid was a disaster (extra large follices and no lining). I went in last Saturday (CD 11) and my dominate follicle was at 12 on the right and on the left I had a follicle that was 9 (there were a few other follicles but I know they were all smaller). Monday I went in (CD 13) and my dominate was at 13 and the second one was at 10. Today I went in (CD 15) and the ultrasound tech was very confused it seemed like because she could not find any follicle over 10. I have been checking for my LH surge and only have the faint line and do not feel that I have actually had my surge yet. The tech said something about the follicle being smashed possibly....but I am sort of shocked by that info...it seems like something isn't right to me.
(A few other comments) In a natural cycle I usually get my LH surge on day 17. I have been pregnant three times (before seeing the specialist) and all three times I have miscarried. The reason I was put on the Clomid and Femara was due to the fact that in my cycle check with the RE my progesterone was low 7 days after ovulation, even though the follicle was perfect at 19mm.
Has anyone heard of a shrinking follicle? This seems very strange to me.
Thanks,
Lauren

Re: Shrinking Follicles?!
I've had follies fall back, although usually they didn't make it past 10 before getting smaller. It appeared they took their estrogen with them, too, as my E2 fell at that point. It sucks.
I hope you get some answers and good luck!!
My doctor's not said anything about my E2 levels and it is something that I have noticed on most people's information they get. Any ideas why he wouldn't be monitoring these?
Lauren
I don't have any advice for you on the shrinking follie, but if they are taking your blood, they are getting your E2. It is part of a specific panel they would code for Quest or whoever they are sending it to. My RE only mentions mine to me if is it off the charts or too low. I am getting into the habit of wanting the numbers each time and I like it better just knowing even if everything is okay.
GL to you - it sounds like you have had quite a crappy time with this!
#1 BFP 1/10/11; missed m/c discovered 7w5d
IF Dx: Endo, hetero MTHFR mutation, poor morphology
#1 IUI: 1/18/12 = BFN
#1 IVF/ICSI 4/2/12 = 2 x 7-cell and 1 x 5-cell transferred (3dt) = BFP!!
H was born at 41w2d on 12/29/12 - be still my heart!
#2 IVF/ICSI 1/19/14 = 2 x 8 cells transferred (3dt) = BFP!! EDD 10/09/14
M&W born at 37 weeks on 9/18/14 - I am the momma of 3 boys!!!
IVF Oct/Nov 2012
Beta #1 = 77, Beta #2 = 190, Beta #3 = 1044
Cautiously optimistic.
Hmm - I didn't get my E2 levels when I was doing an IUI... so maybe they either aren't doing b/w (?) or they just aren't telling you your numbers. For IUI I had E2 and FSH prior to cycling and they told me the numbers, but not after that. For IVF I've been told every time b/w was done what my numbers were.
Thanks for the responses. They told me that my estrogen level was at 130 which fits with the follicles right now. They have decided to cancle this cycle so I am going off the estrogen, lovenox, and baby asiprin for now (Compound Hetero MTHFR). They are going to try and get the insurance company to approve the injections because Clomid and Femara seem not to work well with my cycle.
I know the insurance company won't approve the injections without my husband getting his sperm tested and a test to check my tubes. Both have not been done because we have had no problem concieving in the past....just holding on to the pregnancy. So we are at least two months out...
