Hi there,
I lurk all.the.time., but I am going to try to be much more active on this board.
Although I am a second time mom now, the first time around, I had NO IDEA that I could pump straight into the Dr. Brown's bottles. This means a lot less Medela mini bottles to clean around our house these days. It also means that the bottles for my DD's next day of school are ready to go before I even leave work! For any of those who are interested, this may help you, too:
I pump three times a day at work.
SESSION 1: Pump into two Dr. Brown bottles (A & ; combine what I pump into Bottle A. Refrigerate all bottles and pump parts.
SESSION 2: Pump into two Dr. Brown bottles (B & C); combine what I pump into Bottle B. Refrigerate all bottles and pump parts.
SESSION 3: Pump into one Dr. Brown bottle (C) and one Medela mini bottle; combine what I pump into Bottle C, reserving any leftover milk from the day into the Medela mini bottle.
So, by the end of the day, all three Dr. Brown bottles contain 5 ounces each (what my DD needs for "school" the next day) and I have any leftover milk in a reserve bottle. After a few days, I just combine and freeze the reserved milk.
I hope this is helpful to someone out there.
Re: Do y'all already know this? A helpful tip...
My Dr. Brown's 4 oz wide mouth, 8 oz wide mouth, 4 oz standard, and 8 oz standard all fit onto my Medela.
I dream of getting three pumping sessions into my work day. I work hard to find the time for even a single session in an 8 hour day. Unfortunately, I'm a self employed litigator so no locked rooms or time to pump for me. I pump in a court conference room with my chair backed up to the door and a sign saying "mediation in progress" over the door handle. But that only works after I have finished my last case of the day or been released for lunch.
