After IUI #3 came back as another BFN last Saturday, DH and I hoped that our first consultation with the IVF specialist today would present us with some different options.
Going in, we knew what we were already facing, but we were not ready to hear the Dr. put our chances of having a child at less than 5% even with IVF/ICSI, due to poor egg quality. She also mentioned increased possibility of miscarriage and birth defects for that same reason. Therefore, her professional opinion was that we strongly consider using donor eggs instead -- but cautioned that Asian donors (both DH and I are Chinese) are extremely rare. Oh, and her first appt. wouldn't be until early August. What, what, and what?!?
We are willing to do whatever is necessary to get our take-home baby, and are under no delusions that it will be an easy road; but today, we left the office feeling numb and completely overwhelmed. Tomorrow is my 40th birthday, and this wasn't the surprise that I wanted or expected. It has felt like we have been getting wave after wave of discouraging news lately, and I'm honestly not sure how much more I can take. I'm sorry for putting up another negative post, but ut I honestly didn't know where else to go with all of this.. 3Ters, can you help me keep a positive perspective? Humble thanks in advance.
Re: Need some perspective...
Sorry for PW, but I (MrsCK) wrote this original post, although it somehow got listed under my old (previous) account (BabyCurious) from years back, that I had lost all information for. Not sure how that happened, but I just wanted you to who posted this.
Apologies, MrsCKSorry for multiple duplicate posts, but I (MrsCK) wrote this original post, although it somehow got listed under my old (previous) account (BabyCurious) from years back, that I had lost all information for. Not sure how that happened, but I just wanted you to know that BabyCurious is the "old" Bump me.

That is tough news to get. If she can't fit you in to her schedule until August - try to be hopeful that it give you many months to find an Asian DE. I start looking into donor egg forums (and ask over on IF Vets page as there are a few more ladies over there that have gone the DE route) to get as much info as you can on where to seek out DEs. (((BIG HUGS))) for be dealt this upsetting news.

BFP #2 in January 2014, DS born September 2014
I can imagine that was a very difficult appointment to get through. I'm sorry.
I can't help but wonder how your RE can be so certain it is an egg quality issue after having done IUIs only.
Also, have you thought about getting a second opinion? Another RE may have a completely different perspective on your case...and may have other ideas for treatments/protocols that would boost your chances of success...
I am so sorry that you have a big challenge ahead of you...:(
I hope you get better advices in different board.

IVF & Miracle baby blog!
My Cherry Blossom baby
It's mostly based off of all my test results. My antral follicle count two cycles ago was only 2, response to Clomid was only one 21+ mm follicle, and AMH level was only 0.4.
We have definitely thought about getting a second opinion, but have hesitated because going out-of-network requires us to pay OOP. Now with the possible wait until August for IVF, we will give it more serious thought.
Thanks to all you wonderful ladies for your care, wisdom, and support! Words on a screen can't express how much I appreciate all of you.
