If you had the opportunity, would you...

...volunteer to be an ultrasound subject for testing on a new u/s machine?  The scanned area would be the breast.  It would be through your work while they work out kinks and bugs in the new software and probes, etc.

They wouldn't be able to diagnose anything wrong that they find (even though they would be doctors, ultrasound techs, etc) but can refer you to your doc if they think you need to be seen.  For your volunteering you'd receive a small token, like a $25 iTunes gift card or something similar.

Would you do it if it meant strangers poking around your boobs?  You wouldn't know any of the people performing the testing (ie. co-workers).

  • Yes.  I think clinical research is very important.

  • Yep. I've had a breast reduction, strangers poking at my boobs doesn't bother me.

  • I would.  All docs, nurses, techs, etc have to learn how to be good at their work.  The hospital/health care system that we use is a teaching hospital and I think its great.  I and my kids have often had residents in with our doctor and my first DD was delivered by a resident (with the regular OB standing right there along with a trillion other medical staff since my DD was having complications - nothing to do with the delivery itself).  At my last mammogram, the tech was teaching a new tech how to use the machine so she it just took a little longer - the tech was doing everything and just talking the new tech through everything so she could do them later in the day on other patients.
