Quick question about the 3 hour test. Fasting?

I completely forgot to ask my doctor. I have to fast for 12 hours before my test. Is that no food or water? Or just no food ?  Thx!

  • I was allowed to drink water, but my ob cautioned me against drinking too much the morning of. Then I wasn't allowed to have any water during the test.

  • They told me no sweet drinks. I could drink all the water I wanted before the test and I was allowed to drink water during the 3 hour testing period. Thank goodness too, b/c I felt so sick that first hour after drinking the glucola.

  • I took mine this morning. I was not allowed to eat after 10pm last night and only allowed small sips of water.

During the test, I was allowed small sips again. Thank goodness because I was so sick after.

  • Mine was no food or liquid (though I did brush my teeth).  By the last blood draw, it was hard to get blood because I really needed something to drink at that point.

  • Mine was no food or liquid. I had a sip of water in the morning to wash a pill down with and they said absolutley no more when I told them I did that. I passed, in fact mine was on the low side at 66.
