I want to eat....all the time

I am seriously hungry ALL THE TIME!!  The type of hungry where you get light headed.  I try to eat high fiber foods and stock up on fruits and vegetables but I only stay "full" for a short period of time then it starts all over. I also am trying to be careful because I don't want to gain a ridiculous amount of weight (don't worry-I'm not starving myself....I've already gained 14 lbs)

Am I alone here?  Any have any advice?

Re: I want to eat....all the time

  • Yup...I have the munchies all the time as well.  I have tried to have snacks that are more healthy as I crave sweets.... So I always have a tub of blueberries and strawberries and then I also allow myself a Diet Ice Tea since to me it is sweet like soda to me.   Just keep somethings that are good for you around and yet maybe some that have a little sugar incase you need it.

  • Oh dear, I'm in the same boat.  Except I've gained 24... LOL.  I haven't seen ANYONE on the bump who's gained as much as I have.  nervoussssss.  I eat SO healthy, I keep track of everything I eat.  I work in weightloss and healthcare, so this is somewhat hilarious for me.  My advice is clearly, not working for me.... but what is 'supposed' to work are foods high in protein, fibre, grains.  make sure you're not just thirsty. Get in the habit of drinking a tonne of water (until your pee is clear- yellow pee means you're dehydrated!).  Sigh, goodluck, and let me know what I can improve on!

  • Protein helps, and you can't live on fruits and veggies. I was always starving too (literally from day 1 and had no m/s), but once I started keeping a greek yogurt or lowfat string cheese in the work fridge and some cinnamon almonds in my desk, it's gotten much better. Lots and lots of water like PP said (more than you think is humanly possible) and eat little snacks throughout the day between smaller, lean meals (be picky about your carbs: whole wheat breads, brown rice, quinoa pasta). I've gained 15 which is pretty much normal. Not to worry!

  • Yep!  I am sitting here now thinking I am going to make a salad though I have already had a decent supper and snack.  But at least a salad would be healthy!

  • I'm hungry all the time too! I just keep eating. No real advice there. I get so hungry I don't think I could let myself go very long being hungry....I start to get crabby! I have never been like that in my whole life. I'm normally a 3 meal a day person....no snacks.

At a little over 21 weeks, I have already gained 20 pounds-so dont be nervous! My OB always tells me that I am a steady gainer and that everyone's pregnancy is different. SO I am sure we are just fine! :)

I am ALWAYS hungry as of late as well. I have been trying to eat more protein and drink a lot of water. It has helped some, but when I am hungry, I eat-I just try to focus on healthier choices. I figure baby is doing a lot of growing right now...ah well.

I am 22 weeks and gained 24! I am always hungry! I eat healthy, but volume... I have been trying to watch carbs a little to try and steady my weight gain out but I reallly think that if we are trying our best and eating healthy, part of it is out of our hands! Dont stress it (easier said than done, i know :)) but it all comes off in the end! Keep it up, you are doing great!

  • Me too!  Starving all the time and eating the best I can.  I'm doing the fruit, vegetables, greek yogurt, string cheese, balanced dinner thing and you know what I am doing right now?  Eating a giant bowl of cocoa krispies because I'm starving and I just want to eat what I want to eat.  SO THERE Stick out tongue

BTW- I've gained right around 15lbs.

My sister had gained 30 by this point. It turns out most of hers was amniotic fluid though. Her total was 70 lbs.
