We are starting solids. What do I do now. I know I have to rinse now. Has anyone used the diposable/flushable lines???? Hubby is not wanting to install a sprayer. He really has not explained why. Do I need to start rinsing now that we are doing only one solid meal a day or wait until there is firmer poo?????
Re: Solid food question
I hate liners b/c how do you know for sure when they're going to poop? I mean, my boy is pretty regular and goes often first thing in the morning, but even if that happens 4 days in a row, and I put in a liner on day 5, he won't poop until the 3rd diaper of the day...just to throw me off.
I hate that guessing game.
I was nervous about spraying diapers, but it is really NBD. And we're BLWing, so our poop-change (to ploppable) has been slow and inconsistent. Still, seriously, NBD. But I would hate life without the sprayer.
We don't have a sprayer and just use liners. I prefer the RealNappies brand that I get on Amazon. I tried Bummis but they gave him a rash. We are also doing BLW and teething. I put a liner in every diaper, and they generally work. If there is too much hard poop left on the diaper, I swish it, but that usually isn't the case.
Plus, we use sposies at night because DS sleeps better that way (not a myth for us). He has started pooping at 3am, right before he wakes up to eat. This is not fun, but at least he's not pooping as much in cloth. We have some new cloth coming in the mail so I'm going to try overnight again. I think it will be ok with just a liner, though.
We are apparently lucky enough to have a son with very ploppable poop, it's super easy to just drop it in the toilet ever since he started solids. We do have a sprayer and it's been wonderful the few times the poop is less solid. I'm sure it'll be a godsend if he gets sick. But, you can definitely do without it - dunk, scrape, etc.
If your shower is close to your toilet you could get a handheld shower and just use that if you needed it. Or if it's just that your husband doesn't feel like installing it, you can definitely do it by yourself, it's doable without any mechanical knowledge (as long as your toilet isn't weird, like ours is).
