Success after IF

Random heart question.

So completely randomly my heart beats out of rhythm.  Im

Not sure if it's "heart palpitations" or what.  I notice it happen.  It doesn't hurt and it's so random I've never told anyone or even considered telling any doc.  But being pregnant and having it happen scares me a little.  And with two people I've heard about lately dying in their sleep from heart issues...I'm just wondering if I should worry.  If I should worry, how would a doc even know what to treat if it only happens randomly?

It just happened while I'm laying in bed is why I'm even mentioning it.

Re: Random heart question.

  • i have had that happen before- i think it is nothing.  it is like i all of a sudden feel my heart beating, like it is "catching up" or something.

if you are worried, you could talk to your OB or doctor. mine happens so randomly and infrequently, i don't think a dr would ever catch it through monitoring.  but have them listen anyway.

That's a perfect description of what happens.

  • this has happened to me for years and years.  i had it checked out one time and wore a holter monitor for 24 hours but had no episodes during that time!  my EKG was fine and the diagnosis was...i can't remember what.  but nothing worrisome.  in fact, everyone in my family gets them.  mine are worse with caffeine, lack of sleep, and stress.  i didn't have them at all in my first pregnancy, but i had more than usual in my second (especially toward the end).

i describe mine as an erratic heartbeat.  it will be all over the place - skipping beats, double-beating, etc. - when i have an episode.

i'd mention it at your next prenatal visit, but i think they are a known occurrence in pregnant women, due to increased bloodflow, so i'm sure they'll tell you it's nothing to be concerned about.

  • Ditto seasoul, my mom and aunt get episodes like this and I do infrequently, although I had em a lot while pregnant. Laying on my left side seemed to help, or atleast I thought it did.
