Toddler apps

Sorry I know it's asked often but I never wrote them down.....thanks!

Re: Toddler apps

  • For iPad....not sure if it matters
  • Loading the player...
  • My kids love the PBS for kids app, and NickJr makes one also, I think it's called A-Z.

  • Below are the reviews of the ipad apps I have purchased for our 2 year old son, Nate, who has mild-moderate hearing loss and is also developmentally delayed. We are using the apps to work on fine motor skills and speech.

    We recommend:

    1.       Zoo Train (1.99) -Great graphics. Has five ?games?. Worth it!

    2.       Tickle Tap Toddler Pack (3.99) ? Great graphics and fun sounds.  5 activities. Worth it! There is a second one too.

    3.       Monkey Preschool Lunchbox (.99)-Puzzles, finding letters and matching game are a little too old for Nate yet. He likes to count and tap on the different fruits as well as pick out sticker rewards.

    4.       Peek-a-boo Barn (1.99) This is a good beginner app and very simple to ?play?. Barn door is closed and you can hear an animal making noise. You tap the barn doors and they open with the animal making their noises louder. The name of the animal appears and a child pronounces the name (i.e. pig) The sound of the animals before opening the door would be difficult for a HoH/Deaf child to hear (I can barely hear them) Also, the children pronouncing the animal names are not always really clear(obviously) so this app is more for fun than as a speech tool. It may help out in listening therapy to see if your child can hear the sounds of the animals before the door is opened.

    5.       Itsy Bitsy Spider (1.99-Duck, Duck Moose) Interactive cause and effect storyboard where you touch things and they do stuff. Not really a game.

    6.       Fish School (1.99-Duck, Duck, Moose) ABC?s, Numbers and shapes are made by fish swimming. The spelling out of the letters, numbers and shapes by schools of fish are a bit visually crowded, but they are fun to watch. I like the color part where you pick one fish and then a bunch of other fish of the same color swim into view.

    7.       Tozzle-Toddlers Favorite Puzzles (1.99) The graphics are not up to snuff for the size of an ipad. They are basically wooden puzzles of various themes that you put the shapes into. For a child with visual issues this is a very difficult task. The area for where the puzzle piece goes is not outlined very well and it would be helpful to have the image you are trying to match either ghosted or shown as it actually is into the place it is supposed to go. Nate is also too young for this.

    8.       I Hear Ewe(Free) Since it is a free app I guess I shouldn?t complain but: the pictures of the animals are cartoons and not photos, and they mispronounce ?ambulance? on the vehicles page. Nate really likes the vehicle page.

  • If you are a Pinterest member, search there.  I have seen several lists pop up.  I only do the free ones, but there are several toddler color, counting, matching games.  Lots of free e books, etc.
