I'm just kidding. I'm all for old-fashioned names (our girl name is Gwen), but this makes me laugh - my 2 year old, for weeks now, has been calling the baby "Mavis." It cracks me up, and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out where in the world he had heard this. DH finally figured out that it's a minor character on Thomas the Tank Engine.

It's hilarious to me every time DS says with a straight face, "Night, Mommy. Night, Mavis."

Haha that DS says good night to Mavis!  Yeah, that's a name that I don't think needs to make a comeback.

Not at all. I kind of like it, too... just think it's funny because it's SO very random. If we didn't already have our name chosen, I would probably consider it as a MN just because it's so sweet that DS is set on it. If I have a surprise twin in there, and they're both girls, Mavis it is!

It is cute what they come up with.  Our boy name is Thomas, and DS is INSISTENT that the middle name should be Percy.  Boys and their choo-choos, huh?

This was my sister's Cabbage Patch Kid's name!  Mavis Jane.  Haha.  We never knew if it was May-vis or Mah-vis.  (We still don't know!)  My doll was Emma Patty.  I kind of like it.

Mavis is a favorite around here!  (DS's favorite at least).

I actually love the name Mavis.   It reminds me of "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret?" where the girls have their club and they all get fancy names.  Margaret's is Mavis.   I'm also loving pp's pairing it with Jane.  That's got a great flow IMO.

We have a cat named Mavis.  Every night we actually do say goodnight to Mavis!  I realize I named my cats people names (Mavis & Wanda) but it's always so funny to me when I see real people with those names.  I love that your son is calling your baby Mavis.  It's adorable.
