D&C Scheduled

After waiting for several weeks to miscarry naturally I am going in for a D&C on Wednesday morning. I am so nervous (never had surgery before) about this and hope that everything goes ok. I am ready for this to all be over with and heal physically and emotionally.

I had a D&C about 7 months ago and my experience was OK.  You fall asleep and when you wake up you don't have any recollection of anything going on (thank God).  The hardest part for me was a couple of days later when my intestines started "waking up."  Sometimes with surgery your intestines "fall asleep" and when they begin "waking up" you experience gas pains.  Mine were pretty bad but you can try t prevent that by taking gas-ex or something similar to it.  You can ask your doctor if s/he could recommend something as a preventative measure.  Good luck and I will be thinking of you on Wednesday.

they gave me pepcid before i went in, they told me it would "help everything keep going the right direction."

My D&E was not too bad, physically.  I don't remember a thing after going into the operating room.  Afterwards, I personally did not have much bleeding or cramping at all.  I did however (and still do) have the same stomach pains that Kat mentioned above.  I feel that the procedure has allowed me to move forward and begin the process of healing emotionally.  Good luck, you will be ok.

I don't have a personal d&c experience to share with you as I let nature take it's course, but I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

good luck, i'm scheduling mine for next week. i thought i could wait it out and do it naturally, but this is different than my first m/c and i decided it's just time to move on. Hope you have a super quick recovery!!!

I had mine last Thursday and my experience is about the same. Major gas issues, some cramping and weird bleeding but it is all normal I guess. I found out I lost the baby last Tuesday, it is devastating, but once you have the D&C you can start moving forward I guess. Good luck and so sorry for your loss.... It is a horrible thing to go through.
