bottle warming ?

I'm starting to wean DS from breastfeeding.  Because we've only done 1 bottle a day at home up until now, warming hasn't really been an issue.  Do you use a warmer or some other way to heat the bottles?  If you use a warmer, which kind?

Re: bottle warming ?

  • Warming hasn't been an issue until now because we usually only made one formula bottle and used hot water, so it didn't need to be warmed.

  • I've never warmed a bottle with DC # 2. I just use room temperature water. I did not want to get her used to warmed water in case I am out and not able to warm a bottle.
  • I use the First Years bottle warmer; it's really easy.  But I have only used it when I am mixing refrigerated breast milk with formula.  When I just do a formula bottle I just use warm water from the faucet.
  • I heat a small bowl of water in the microwave, take it out, and set the bottle in the hot water. I used to have a bottle warmer and hated it. It got all mildewed in the inside. Ew.
  • like pp we just warm water in the microwave and put the bottle in the hot water - works well.
  • Like a previous reply, we never warm bottles so that DS won't get used to it. ?He has either room temperature or cold bottles and does just fine. ?We also did this with our first son and it worked great.
  • Thanks for the replies ladies.  I just saved some money, yay!  We will try the microwave bowl of water trick.
