Changing 'table' height

So we are going to use my dresser I had growing up for the changing table but the more I stand next to it I fear it is too short.  Anyone using a lower dresser for a changing table?  I wonder what a comfortable height it - considering I am 5'9" and my husband is 6'1".

Re: Changing 'table' height

  • I'm not sure given your heights, but DH and I bought a lower dresser with our nursery furniture, and plan to use that as a changing table.  I'm not sure how tall it is.  If it's a dresser you didn't have to buy, then give it a whirl, and if it doesn't work for you, then figure out a new solution.  At least you won't be out a ton of money.

  • We used the changing table until Jack outgrew the height/weight limit, so now we're using my husband's low dresser.  It's definitely lower by about 6 inches, but I can't say we've had any complaints (i'm 5'2" and hubby is 5'9)  Given the choice though i'd probably pick the changing table.

  • I'm 5'9" and my husband is 6'3" and we used a dresser for our first son's changing station that was 34" and it's worked out great. He's 3 now and we still change his clothes and put on pjs up there as it's much easier on our backs. His dresser is staying in his room when the next baby comes so we are looking at dressers anywhere between 34-38", any shorter would be pretty uncomfortable for us. Good luck!
  • We are using a dresser also and I'm on the shorter side. If memory serves its 36" tall.  I was worried it would be too tall but not at all.  Love the height and so does my 6'3" DH.  Still use it for DS and he is 18 months.
