E has started tossing and turning and crying in her sleep every couple of hours. Her eyes are still closed and she is still actually asleep, but she's really agitated. She used to STTN - since she was 2 months old So you can imagine things have really been crappy at our house lately. When we go in we can pat her to calm her down, but she'll either start right back up, or she'll be up again in about an hour. Any ideas?

You lost my sympathy at "She used to STTN - since she was 2 months old".
If she is still asleep - if you just let her be, how long does this crying last? Sometimes Rocco cries with his eyes closed, mainly when he is waking up due to having a wet diaper.

Yep - just started this 3 nights ago. Of course mine never STTN, or even close, but it sounds similar to what we're going through. Man I love this board, I think I'd be calling the Dr. for everything if I didn't find out others are dealing with similar things!
Our thoughts:
1) Teething - he has a lot of other symptoms for this including runny nose, shoving things in his mouth etc.
2) Gas - I'm actually thinking this could be teething related due to the extra saliva or from him being more fussy during the day
3) Reflux getting worse - this hasn't been a problem before, so I'd be suprised if this was it.
I'm waiting it out - if it's teeth those damn teeth better get here soon! It's been a rough couple of nights for him!
Oh boy was this us last night. A few times he quieted himself down. Other times he just needed to be held for a little bit. One of the times I changed his diaper, which seemed to help him fall back to sleep. One of the times he would not quiet down at all, so I told my husband to get him a bottle. He slept the whole way through the bottle and didn't leave a drop on his face (unheard of at most feedings). I'm hoping this isn't a new trend.
Additionally, he has starting turning himself around in his crib, so sometimes he wakes himself up by his head being up against the side of the crib.
I know. I love this board for that same reason. I think it's teething too. I'm so confused. Thanks for the insight!
I know. I feel bad even complaining but I feel like we've entered the Twilight Zone! If we do nothing she gets more and more agitated until it's full on crying. We try to keep her from getting too worked up so we go on and get her, but it's every hour it seems!
